Day Two: Hardware

One burning question I would still like answered about hardware:

Honestly, I find this all to be a bit overwhelming and confusing, but I did have one question come to mind. What kind of hardware is a thumb drive? I would assume it would be an input, but could it also be considered an output because you can save stuff to it and take it away or off (I'm not sure how to phrase it) from the computer?

  1. Like a CD or floppy disk, a USB drive is considered a storage device that can fall under both the input and output categories.

  2. Day 4
Thumb drives, also known as flash drives or USB drives are solid-state devices. Instead of using a rotating magnetic drive, a thumb drive uses flash memory thus making it different from a regular hard drive. They don't have moving parts and don't rotate.
